Privacy Policy

Scope

This policy covers the near Discord bot and near.rip. Everything described here is stored in a single database on the server that runs the bot. Data is not sold, rented, or shared with advertisers.

What the bot stores

Only what a feature needs in order to work. Discord user, role, channel, and server IDs appear throughout, because that is how Discord identifies everything.

• Server configuration. Prefix, module toggles, bound roles and log channels, ticket panels, reaction role bindings, autoresponders, tags, and greeting messages.
• Moderation records. Cases, reasons, durations, and the moderator who acted, so history survives a restart.
• Message content, briefly. Snipe keeps recently deleted and edited messages so staff can review them. Starboard and sticky messages keep the text they repost. Ticket transcripts capture the conversation in a ticket channel when it closes.
• Feature state. AFK notes, reminders you set, giveaway entries, Last.fm usernames you link, and roleplay stats.
• Verification. When the web gate is enabled, a salted hash of your IP address and a device fingerprint, used to detect alt accounts and VPN traffic. The raw IP address is not written to the database.

Dashboard sign-in

Signing in uses Discord OAuth with the identify and guilds scopes, so the dashboard can show the servers you manage. The access token stays inside an encrypted server-side session cookie and is never exposed to the browser. We do not receive your Discord password. A device cookie stays on this browser so the session cannot be replayed elsewhere.

Retention

Snipe entries are short-lived and roll over as new messages arrive. Configuration and moderation records persist until they are deleted by a server administrator or the bot is removed from the server. Removing near from a server marks it inactive; ask for a purge if you want the rows gone immediately.

Your choices

Server administrators can turn features off with ,module and clear stored data with the matching command (for example ,clearsnipe). To request deletion of data tied to your user ID, or a copy of it, contact us through the support channels on the Discord application listing.

Third parties

Playback and lookups reach Discord, Apple Music, Deezer, SoundCloud, YouTube, and Last.fm. Those requests follow each provider's own privacy policy.

We do not run advertising or analytics pixels on this site.

Children

near is not directed at anyone under the minimum age required by Discord's Terms of Service in their country.
