Verification and joining

Button, web check, staff gate, or an automatic role.

You will

A new member can pass once and type in the channels you opened.

Examples on this site start with a comma. Your server can use a different prefix. Change it with `,prefix` or in Basics if you own the server.

Before you start

  • Pick one style. The verified role is required except when you change it later.
  • Web check URL is https://bot.swu.ng/verify/ plus your server id.

Set it up

  1. Choose a style. Button in Discord, a web gate, a staff gate channel, or an automatic role on join. Pick one and keep it. Mixing styles confuses new members. Set the style in settings or on the dashboard.

  2. Verified role. near grants a verified role when they pass. Put near above that role or the grant fails.
  3. Post the panel. After the style and channel exist, repost the panel, web link, or gate sticky.

  4. Web check URL. If you use the web gate, members open https://bot.swu.ng/verify/ and your server id. The Discord application also needs https://bot.swu.ng/api/verify/callback as a redirect.

Do not

  • Do not run two styles at once. Pick button, web, gate, or autorole.

Troubleshooting

  • If the web gate loops, the callback URL is missing on the application.
  • If they pass and still cannot type, the verified role is missing overwrites in chat.

Verify it works

  • Join on an alt with the style you picked. Confirm they get the verified role once.
